The Salary Calculator Tool is a free web-based utility designed to help users calculate their net salary based on Jamaican tax regulations. It supports both individual and bulk salary calculations using gross pay and pension contributions. The tool automatically calculates deductions such as NHT, NIS, Education Tax, and PAYE, and then presents a breakdown of each employee’s payslip. Users can download the results in multiple formats such as PDF, CSV, or TXT.
Instruction Manual:
1. Accessing the Tool:
Open any modern web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari).
2. Using the Calculator (Single Entry):
Scroll to the form section labeled “Calculate Salary.”
Enter the Gross Pay amount.
Optionally enter any additional Pension Contribution amount.
Select the Pay Period (Monthly, Fortnightly, or Weekly).
Enter the Income Tax Threshold amount.
Click on the “Calculate Salary” button.
The payslip will be generated and shown below the form with all deductions and net salary clearly listed.
The most current income tax threshold has already been entered for you.
3. Uploading Bulk Data (Excel File):
Scroll down to the file upload section labeled “Upload Excel File.”
Click on the file input to select an Excel file (.xlsx or .xls) containing employee salary information.
Ensure the file includes the following column headers for accurate processing:

Click the “Upload” button to process the file.
The tool will automatically calculate deductions and generate a payslip for each employee listed.
4. Downloading Results:
After the payslips are generated, scroll to the section labeled “Export Payslips.”
Select your preferred format:
Download PDF – for printable, formatted payslips.
Download CSV – for spreadsheet or database use.
Download TXT – for plain text storage or sharing.
5. Notes:
NIS deduction is capped at JMD $12,500 per month.
Education Tax is 2.25% of Gross Pay.
NHT is 2% of Gross Pay.
PAYE is calculated at 25% of the difference between gross pay and total deductions, including NIS, additional pension, and the income tax threshold per pay period.
The tool is optimized for use on desktop browsers but is also responsive on mobile.
